THE owner of an animal haven is appealing for help in re-homing a rabbit who was found hopping alongside a busy West Swindon road.

John Warwick, who runs the Swindon and District Animal Haven, in Royal Wootton Bassett, is currently looking after the white rabbit, who has black markings but is desperate to see her go to a good home.

Now named Sophie, she was found on Mead Way at the start of September by a passer-by who has been looking after her ever since.

John said: “The lady spotted her because she is white with black bits so you can tell she isn’t just a stray rabbit.

“She stopped and took her in because she was close to a really busy road.

“She has since put posters up all over the area to try and find her owner, but hasn’t had any luck so I’ve got her at the animal haven now.

“She has been taken to the vets but she hadn’t been chipped.

“We want to try and trace her owner, but if we can’t do that, we will rehome her.

“Rabbits can often escape their gardens and get themselves a bit lost, but she is such a lovely pet, somebody must be missing her.”
