Teens are the happiest of all

TEENAGERS are the happiest people in Britain, according to a report by the Office for National Statistics.

This is despite high youth Unemployment and university tuition fees of up to £9,000 a year.

The report found that 16 to 17-year-olds were the “most satisfied” with life compared with other age groups.

Unemployment among 18 to 24-year-olds in Swindon is at its lowest level since the start of the year, according to official figures.

In June, 1,325 people were claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance, compared with 1,530 in January. The total represents 7.9 per cent of all people of the same age in the borough.

The figure also represents 5.1 per cent against the number in the south west. Unemployment among young people has been of continued concern in Swindon.

But the local economy has been boosted by jobs being created in the manufacturing sector and strong sales at the Designer Outlet.

The overall number of people claiming JSA has also dipped slightly since the start of the year.
