Wiltshire-born author James Aitcheson at book signing in Swindon library

Historic novel fans and medieval enthusiasts should book a date at Swindon’s Central Library on Tuesday, October 30.

Wiltshire-born author James Aitcheson will be signing copies of his new book The Splintered Kingdom and discussing how he researches and writes his novels, which are set amidst the chaos of the Norman Conquest.

His debut novel Sworn Sword tells the tale of Tancred, an ambitious knight who seeks vengeance following his lord’s murder, and The Splintered Kingdom is the battle-torn sequel.

The author, a Cambridge history graduate, weaves his knowledge into the fiction and promises a fascinating evening as he reveals his inspiration and writing techniques.

The Autumn Author Evening event starts at 7.30pm in the second floor Reading Room at the Central Library, in Regent Circus.

Tickets cost £1.50 for library members and £2.50 for non-members and can be bought at the Central Library. Admission is also available on the door.
