Alternative route sought for lorries to backfill site in Swindon
10:54am Friday 19th October 2012 in News
CONTRACTORS for a utility firm will try to find an alternative access route to backfill a hole left by a decommissioned gas holder.
The Adver reported on Wednesday that residents feared the number of lorries travelling down Cobden Road would cause disruption and the residential road was unsuitable for heavy goods vehicles.
After a meeting with Swindon Council representatives, Wales and the West Utilities said it would look at alternative ways to get to the site.
A spokesman for the firm said: “We met with representatives of Swindon’s highways authority and a number of alternatives were discussed. Working with our sub-contractor we are now going to carry out a feasibility study of alternative traffic routes into the site.”
