THE Swindon Advertiser raised more than £700 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer last month.

On October 16, we ran a 12-page supplement dedicated to Breast Cancer Action Month to help highlight the exceptional work that the charity does in the town.

With every paper sold on that day, 1p was donated to the charity as well as 10 per cent of the advertising sold for the supplement.

We also set up our own Just Giving website, had collection tins dotted around the town and took part in the national Wear It Pink day last week, with doughnuts donated by Sainsburys Bridgemead and the town centre, and Tesco in Ocotal Way.

A total of £712.66 was raised from the events.

Swindon Advertiser editor Gary Lawrence said: “I’m delighted with the amount of money we have raised for a very worthy cause.

“Breast cancer affects so many people - we can all think of a loved one, a friend or a colleague who has been affected by this disease, so the more awareness and money we can raise, the better.

“We hope to raise even more money next October and we hope the people of Swindon will continue to support the cause.”
