Tory produces a web of spin

I WAS very surprised to read the letter from Coun Tomlinson who sought to mislead the readers of your newspaper.

He claims that the Lib Dems wish to reclassify Spider-Man from a 12 rating to a 15 rating. This is untrue.

Just two examples, Lib Dems who run Norwich City and Oldham Borough Councils have reduced the rating to PG a move that gives parents the choice to allow their children to view the film.

A number of Labour and Conservative councils have also reduced the classification. The British Board of Film Classification agonised over whether to give the film a 12 or 15 due to the level of violence in the film, not the Lib Dems.

Tory Tomlinson says the Lib Dems are pressing for legalising drugs and hard-core pornography.

More spin than truth, I have to say. We want to downgrade the classification of drugs like cannabis and ecstasy so that the police do not have to spend time dealing with possession of them. Police resources authorities also support this view.

With an education inspection failure, a judgement by the government that Swindon is a poor provider of services for children and elderly people and an inspection that says the council's performance in Social Services is so poor it does not merit any star rating in comparison to other councils. I really do wonder if this Tory should stop spinning his web of fabrication and focus on more important issues of representing his constituents.
