Band's fans will be in ecstacy

XTC fans will be taking part in a pilgrimage to Uffington as part of a three-day convention in Swindon.

The famous white horse there has featured on one of the cult Swindon band's album covers, and the trip is one of a number of events in XTC Meeting Place from Friday, September 30 to Sunday, October 2.

Tony Gough, who lives in Rodbourne and is helping to organise the event, said: "There are people coming from all over the place Israel, France, Holland, New Zealand, America and Germany.

"But we also want people from Swindon to come along and help celebrate some of the town's best musicians."

On the Friday night there will be a celebration of XTC's music in the Crossways Suite of the Moonrakers Pub, with XTC collaborator Martin Newell and an up and coming XTC tribute band called The Fuzzy Warblers.

On the Saturday there will be XTC memorabilia on display at The Spot in Old Town and in the evening tribute band X-sTatiC will perform at the Furnace in Commercial Road. The Uffington trip is on the Sunday.
