Shadow cabinet member comes to Swindon

A senior member of the shadow cabinet is to visit Swindon for urgent talks on the local effects of the economic crisis and how a future Conservative government could help.

Philip Hammond, Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury, will meet local business leaders at a specially-arranged event this Thursday.

The meeting will be held at the offices of GWE Business West and has been jointly organised by Swindon's two Conservative parliamentary candidates - Justin Tomlinson and Robert Buckland.

Robert Buckland, parliamentary candidate for South Swindon, said, "Philip Hammond will be at the forefront of economic policy in a future Conservative government, so I'm delighted that he's chosen Swindon to come and see for himself what needs to be done."

Justin Tomlinson, parliamentary candidate for North Swindon, said, "I look forward to attending this important event, and thank our hosts at GWE Business West for helping to bring the local business community together".
