Wootton Bassett entries at record high

Record numbers of people have registered to take part in the Wootton Bassett Arts Festival this year.

The festival, which takes place in June, has attracted more than 420 entries so far and organisers are delighted.

Marketing director Miranda Shirnia said: “Though the festival has taken place on two previous occasions, these numbers are far higher than ever before.

“This time around the committee had two main objectives – to expand the entries to include people who have never taken part in a festival before, and to extend the festival to include speech and drama and creative writing.

“Looking at the entries many local schools have decided to take part and the two new sections represent nearly 40 per cent of the total entries – great numbers in an inaugural year.
