WILTSHIRE LEAGUE MIDWEEK ROUNDUP: Calne lose perfect record

CALNE Town Reserves surrendered their 100 per cent record in midweek when they were held to a goalless draw by visitors Bradford Town, writes RAY BURROUGHS.

After gaining maximum points from six games, the home side were made to pull out all the stops by a strong Bradford side and, despite some close calls at both end in the closing stages, the sides had to settle for a point apiece.

Marlborough Town were beaten by two first-half goals from Ollie Armstrong and Gary Bromage who enabled Wroughton to record their first win of the season.

Town pressed hard after the break and the visitors had to dig deep to prevent the home side getting back into the game.

Devizes Town still looking for their first victory of the season were beaten 1-0 at home by Wilton Town.

Purton Red House beat local rivals Southbrook by the same score, courtesy of a free kick from Darren Brown.

League leaders New College proved too strong for Moredon Cheney, running out winners 5-1.

John Rees was on target with a hat-trick with Todd Hathaway adding two more.

Newly-promoted clubs Blyskawica and AFC NPower fought out an entertaining game with Power snatching a late winner to emerge victors 3-2.
