Asda has sparked off what is expected to be yet another round of supermarket fuel cuts by announcing a 2p-a-litre reduction in its petrol and diesel prices.

To take effect from tomorrow, the cuts will mean Asda customers will pay no more than 107.7p a litre for petrol, with diesel at 114.7p a litre.

With world oil prices plunging, this is Asda's 13th cut since the end of September, taking, in total, 19p a litre off petrol and 15p a litre off diesel.

Asda's petrol trading director, Andy Peake, said: "We're pleased to be giving drivers some early new-year savings."
