World Belts buckles up for rebrand thanks to Swindon Designer Outlet.

After eighteen years the local and much loved business ‘World Belts,’ part of Swindon Designer Outlet since its opening in 1997, has recently, with the help of the outlet, rebranded and reopened as Greens The Belt Maker, now a stand-alone retail unit.

McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Swindon has worked closely with proprietor Steve Green, as part of the centre’s commercialisation drive, to help improve the business and develop his concept.

Once a sole trader, Greens The Belt Maker has now developed and expanded within the centre, offering customers a much larger range than ever before. Originally trading from a mobile unit, in 2000 Green opened a small unit kiosk where he has been trading until the retail outlet opened recently.

The idea for the business is that a customer can choose a real leather strap – any width, length, colour and any buckle, even a buckle they may already own. The belt is then made to measure to fit the customer perfectly in less than four minutes. The leather used is of the utmost quality and it has reported that customers come back wearing the same belt after over ten years.

A key member of the community, Green raises money for a number of charities including Help The Heroes, The Barn Owl Centre and Prospect. This is done through asking customers to make a donation rather than charging a set fee when new holes are needed in the belts or when handbag straps need fixing.

Tina Cumpstey, Centre Manager, McArthurGlen Swindon, says: “McArthurGlen Swindon Designer Outlet is proud to be supporting both Steve and Greens The Belt Maker as a business. We are delighted that Greens is still flourishing and we can offer the new retail outlet within the centre, as Greens has been a part of McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Swindon since the very beginning of the centre.”

Steve Green, Greens The Belt Maker owner, says, “Without the help and investment of McArthurGlen we could never have rebranded to become ‘Greens The Belt Maker,’ for which we are thoroughly grateful. A big thank you to them for their help and support over the past eighteen years.”
