A mental health event planned by the Swindon Mindful Employer Network has attracted so much interest it is already a ‘full house’.

Mental health@work: best practice takes place on 1 March at Excalibur Communications in Arclite House and features some top local contributors.

Mike Godfrey, who is Chair of the Business West Swindon Initiative, and Deputy Chair of the Swindon Mindful Employer Network said: “This has exceeded our expectations. We have seen a rapid increase in attendance at our network events since our launch in 2009 which means we have to find large venues to host our popular sessions.''

Guest speakers include Dr Donna Lovell and Suzanne Baxter of Swindon Mind who will present a taster session from the popular Mental Health First Aid courses which concentrates on the subject of anxiety.

Lisa Monis of Work Smart Work Savvy explores the approach managers should adopt when handling stress within the workforce.

Lauren Harkin, Senior Associate at Withy King specialising in employment law, focusses on the legal implications for employers of mental ill-health in the workforce.

James Phipps, Chief Executive of Excalibur, will address delegates and offer his support in increasing awareness of mental health issues among employers in the Swindon area.

Melanie Richens, Chair of the Swindon Mindful Employer Network, welcomes delegates and introduces guest speakers.

Mike Godfrey said: "I believe the key to its success is the progressive attitude of local employers and the prominence of mental health as a workplace issue, and of course the interesting and relevant sessions organised by the network. The continuing success of the Swindon Mindful Employer Network underlines the growing consensus that Swindon is a great place to live and work.”

The network have begun a reserve list should cancellations be received for this event.

Places for this event are available for representatives of Swindon Employers only.
