Justin Tomlinson, the MP for North Swindon, was the guest speaker at the Swindon Chamber of Commerce Economic lunch.

The event was sponsored by Barclays Bank and hosted by the Marriott Hotel where the lunch was held.

Mr Ian Workman, Barclays co-head of business relationships in the UK, introduced the proceedings before introducing Mr Tomlinson.

The MP admitted that it had been an interesting time in Parliament since the Prime Minister called the general election and its subsequent result.

Around 30 leading business men and women attended the lunch and Mr Tomlinson answered a series of questions.

The newly elected president of the Swindon Chamber, Kevin Gwilliam, who is the general manager of the Brunel Shopping Centre, thanked Mr Tomlinson for his speech and Barclays for sponsoring the event.

Miss Holly Angelinetta, the manager of the Marriott, said she was pleased to be hosting the lunch and looked forward to be doing another.

"We are part of the Swindon business community and it is important that we are at the right of the heart of it," she said.
