SWINDON’S First City Group has relocated to new, larger premises on the Cheney Manor Industrial Estate, joining together all divisions of the Group including First City Nursing Services, First City Homecare, First City Extra Care, First City Recruitment Solutions, First City Training and the group’s charitable arm Friends of First City.

Formerly located in offices in the town centre and Stratton, this move represents an investment of approximately £750,000 into the local business economy, which will directly benefit those needed care in their own homes, extra care facilities, day services hubs and care establishments.

It will also support back office functions for the group’s care home, Ashgrove House.

The 9,586sq ft office building in Darby Close is now the central headquarters for all of the First City Group across Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.

The HQ will also provide dedicated training space for First City Training in order to deliver the wide variety of health and social care training that the business provides to its staff on a regular basis, as well as to external care providers and others across the sector.

First City is a family-run business, set up in Swindon more than 30 years ago by Keith Trowbridge.

He has since been joined by his sons Stephen and David and the company has expanded across Wiltshire and Gloucestershire and employs more than 740 staff.

Stephen Trowbridge, the managing director, said: “First City has expanded quickly over the past few years and were outgrowing our former offices in Swindon town centre and Stratton.

“When the opportunity arose for us to take on First City House, it provided us with the space we need to bring all the divisions together, as well as expand our training offer.

“First City is still a family-owned business and we see all of our staff as members of our extended family.

“So it was logical to bring everyone together under one roof. We will, however, continue to have our offices in Chippenham, Salisbury, Cheltenham and Bournemouth.”
