Care at home provider Bluebird Care Swindon has appointed a new director.

Katrina Simms, who joined the company in 2014 as care manager, becomes operations director, supporting founder and managing director Ben Curtis.

“Katrina has, in the time she has been with Bluebird Care Swindon, played a huge part in helping make it into the successful company that it is today, with more than 120 customers and 50 carers, providing in excess of a 1,000 hours of care per week,” said Ben.

“I am a firm believer in rewarding success and to this end it was an easy decision to suggest to Katrina that she become a director and shareholder, a suggestion and a challenge that Katrina received with enthusiasm.

“Katrina’s commitment to ensuring that we deliver a high quality of care has shone through since the day she came into the business and I am certain that Bluebird Care Swindon will continue to stay focused on providing the quality of care that our customers deserve.”

Before joining Bluebird Care Swindon, Katrina had been with a national care provider for 12 years, starting as a carer and progressing to care manager.

She said: “I love working with Bluebird Care Swindon.

“It’s an amazing company and I am delighted to be part of it.

“We have fantastic carers working for us, and they really look after our customers. I firmly believe that if we support our staff then they will provide an even better service, and this is the reputation we have built our success upon.”

Bluebird Care Swindon, based at Groundwell, was established in 2011. It provides care to people in the town and surrounding area so they can remain living at home.

Most customers are elderly, but the company also helps adults with physical disabilities and learning difficulties.
