The National Self Build and Renovation Centre has donated a £500 anniversary present to Swindon 105.5, the town’s community radio station.

NSBRC managing director, Harvey Fremlin, presented a cheque for £500 to the independent not-for-profit organisation, whose presenters, admin and technical teams are all volunteers.

After presenting the cheque to station founding member and manager Shirley Ludford, Mr Fremlin commented: “We are really pleased to support Swindon 105.5. When we heard that the wonderful team of volunteers were celebrating ten years of the station in 2018 we wanted to offer our support. We celebrated the NSBRC’s 10th anniversary last year and it turned into a great year for us – and we hope Swindon 105.5 enjoys the same this year.

“Shirley’s team helped produce some promotional recordings for us when we first started our new employee-owned business and we have always admired the professionalism of all the team and the outstanding contribution they make to our local community.

“We are producing a special radio programme with Swindon 105.5 celebrating employee-owned businesses and exploring what makes them different.”

Shirley said: “It is so lovely when unexpected offers of support are made and shows our service is valued, so on behalf of all our volunteers and trainees a huge thank you to Harvey and his team for their generous donation. It has been a pleasure working with them.”
