A SPECIAL stay at the Blunsdon House Hotel will be a Christmas Wish come true for the O’Donoghue family.

The four children, who lost their mother Debbie to breast cancer in 2007, were nominated by family friend Anna Church.

Earlier this year dad Jason was crowned one of five superdads in the country by ITV1’s Daybreak after the youngsters nominated him, and Anna said she thought it was time the children had a treat.

Anna said: “They were all so young when they lost their mother, and Jason has had to be both their mother and their father. “The children recently asked me to nominate their dad for father of the year and he was one of the winners. “I feel it is about time the children had a special day too as they are just so strong for their father. “Even though he is a great dad these children have had to grow up without their mother.”

Blunsdon House Hotel has given the family an overnight stay with dinner and use of the leisure facilities, to be taken in January, for their Christmas Wish.

Anna, of Liden, who was Debbie’s hairdresser, said: “I knew her before she even got together with Jason. I think the world of the family, their mother was a wonderful woman and I held her hand and I promised I would always keep in contact with the children.

“She was the best mum anyone could have wished for.”

Dorcan Academy pupils Courtney, 16, twins Jordan and Kieran, 14, and Eldene Primary School pupil Paris, nine, were told about the Christmas Wish at the hotel last week.

Paris said: “They wouldn’t tell us where we were going, we were all giggling on the way. We didn’t know where we were going or anything. I am really happy, I’m really looking forward to going swimming.”

ITV presenter Gethin Jones, along with half of Jason’s street, surprised Jason by knocking on his door in June to tell him he was a superdad.

Jason, a carpenter, said: “We have all come together as a family to cope with everything that has happened. The Christmas Wish trip to Blunsdon House Hotel will give us something to look forward to this Christmas.”

Hotel manager Gerri Burton said: “I am so pleased to have a family like this come to us.”
