The John Bentley School has announced that Laura Carleton has resigned from her position as principal.
A sealed letter was sent out with students to parents and carers on Friday.
Carol Bell, chair of governors, published the following statement: “It is with regret that the governing body of The John Bentley School announces that Ms Carleton has resigned as Principal.
“The Governors thank her for the contribution made during her time at the Academy and wish her every success for the future.”
Ms Carleton has not been in school since October due to an investigation by the governors.
Melanie Sutton, who has been acting principal since the beginning of the investigation, will continue in that role.
Ms Carleton joined The John Bentley School in September 2013 having previously been deputy head of Bristol Grammar School.
