More animals in danger can be safely rescued by Wiltshire firefighters thanks to a donation of £4,450 from local RSPCA branches.
The amount will fund specialist equipment to help Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service save animals in distress, such as pneumatically operated jab sticks which sedate animals from up to eight feet high.
In the county there has been a dedicated animal rescue teams within the fire service since the end of 2008.
As well as the two specialist teams the Fire Service now has three rural safety officers who provide expert management at animal rescue incidents.
Crew Manager Shaun Milton, from Stratton, said: “We are incredibly grateful to the three Wiltshire branches of the RSPCA for their continued support of our work.
“It’s good to know that our teams are so appreciated, and this new equipment will allow us to carry on helping animals and their owners.”
