WADWORTH Shires Max and Monty were triumphant at the Shire Horse Society’s National Show over the weekend.

"They did Wadworth proud, bringing home three very large pieces of silverware and numerous rosettes," said Tricia Hurle, marketing and stables administrator,

Max and Monty, along with head horseman Martin Whittle, horseman Callum Whittle and groom Hannah Miller, travelled to the show at to Arena UK near Grantham.

Max took first place in the Single Trade Turnout class on Saturday, and together with Monty took third place in the Pairs Trade Turnout class on Sunday, both against exceptional competition in the ring.

Max was then back in the main arena to take part in the Overall Turnout Championship and won the class outright.

Ms Hurle said: "As Max and Monty are working horses, and two of the very few remaining Brewery horses that still deliver each weekday morning, we are justifiably very proud of them making the transition from working to showing so brilliantly.

"We would like to thank the whole stables team involved, for all their hard work in making sure that the horses and show dray were immaculately turned out, and shown off to perfection;this was a brilliant start to their show season for 2015.

"The next show outing will be to the Royal Bath and West Show at Shepton Mallet, to be held from May 27-30."
