A WOMAN who died after a rock from a Welsh cliff fell on to her has been named as Georgina Le Fjord, who was originally from Salisbury.

The 23-year-old was killed in the freak accident at Llantwit Major beach in the Vale of Glamorgan last Thursday.

Ms Le Fjord, known to friends as "Georgie Ford" was brought up in Salisbury. She had been having a picnic with a friend to celebrate finishing her maths A-level exam.

It is believed she was sitting about five metres away from the cliff when a rock hit her.

Close to the spot where she died there are a number of signs warning about the danger of falling rocks.

South Wales Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding Ms Le Fjord's death.

A spokesman said: "It is a tragic accident and the coroner has been informed."

An inquest into Ms Le Fjord's death will be opened later this week.
