TODAY is the deadline for electors interested in voting in two elections.

Swindon Council’s electoral services team is running both the county-wide police and crime commissioner election, and the by-election in the Blunsdon and Highworth ward, triggered by the death of Coun Doreen Dart.

For both elections, which take place on Thursday, November 15, the deadline to be added to the electoral register is 5pm today.

This is also the cut-off point for postal vote applications from those who will not be able to get to the polling station on the day.

The candidates for the police and crime commissioner elections are Conservative Angus Macpherson, Labour’s Clare Moody, Lib Dem Paul Batchelor and John Short for UKIP, as well as independent candidates Liam Silcocks and Colin Skelton.

Meanwhile the by-election candidates are Phil Beaumont for Labour, Andrew Day for the Green Party, John Lenton for UKIP, Cath Smith for the Lib Dems, and Steve Weisinger for the Conservatives.
