ANGUS Macpherson, who is running as the Conservative nominee for the position of Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire, has become the first candidate to commit to Victim Support’s PCC manifesto.

Victim Support has liaised with PCC candidates in Wiltshire in recent weeks to emphasise the need to put victims at the heart of the criminal justice system in the area.

Mr Macpherson said: “I believe the needs of victims must be at the heart of the criminal justice system in Wiltshire. This means more than simply meeting a duty of care and it can help us to fight crime in the area.

“The priorities set out in Victim Support’s manifesto will help us to make sure that no one falls through the cracks in the system.”

Wayne Stevens, divisional manager at Victim Support, said: “Crime can, and does, wreck lives. By committing to the manifesto pledges and implementing the suggested activities, if elected Angus Macpherson can help to build trust and confidence in the criminal justice system.

“Angus is the first PCC candidate in Wiltshire to sign up to our pledges and we would encourage other candidates to follow his example.”

Victim Support is the world’s largest and longest-established charity supporting victims of and witnesses to crime.
