In at the deep end for jubilee at the Oasis
SWIMMERS, gym-goers and families were given a pleasant surprise this weekend as they were greeted by a specially organised Jubilee party at the Oasis Leisure Centre.
Workshops, bouncy castles and face painters were just some of the free attractions available on the day, as young and old alike celebrated the Queen’s 60th year on the throne in style.
The centre was taken over by Moirai Capital Investments on Friday.
Julie Acorn, of West Swindon, who was at the event, said: “We had a wonderful day, and it really was the perfect way to enjoy a huge moment in history.
“There was so much on offer to keep both the adults and the kids entertained. There was a lovely party atmosphere around the place and you could see everyone leaving with a smile on their face which was great.”
The activities were organised by Moirai Capital Investments, and the group have grander plans in the pipeline worth £65m now their takeover of the Oasis has been completed.
Chris Lewis, of Moirai Capital Investments, said: “We are entering a very exciting time for the Oasis, and these fantastic Jubilee celebrations are the perfect way to kick off our tenure here.
“There are going to be lots of extremely exciting things happening as part of our refurbishment in the coming months and years, including the construction of an indoor ski slope and a large music arena.”
Padraig Herlihy, who is implementing the take-over on behalf of Moirai, said: “Of course, introducing the first phase of changes, which will be concentrated on the Oasis itself, is going to take time to be completed, but we are very keen to stress that the refurbishment will be an evolution rather than a revolution.
“As such, it is very much business as usual at the Oasis and I would like to encourage the public to use our excellent facilities as they normally would during the refurbishment.”
