• August 8, 2010: Jahmene wows judges of Swindon’s Got Talent with a soulful compostion of his own, setting him en route to stardom.
  • June 2012: The 22-year-old worker enters the X Factor, delivering a powerful rendition of Etta James hit At Last.
  • August 18: X Factor viewers get their first glimpse of Jahmene, left, when his audition is aired on ITV for the first time, with Louis Walsh calling him ‘a revelation’.
  • September 20: Ahead of the boot camp stage of the show, Jahmene becomes a favourite with the bookies to win. They have him at 5/1 to win the show, with nearest rival Ella Henderson at 7/1.
  • September 22: Viewers are kept on the edge of their seats after Jahmene puts in a lacklustre performance of Maroon 5’s Moves Like Jagger at Bootcamp.
  • September 23: Jahmene is shown telling producers that he doesn’t feel well and may ‘pass out’ with nerves, above. He is comforted backstage by Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh, who tell the performer that they still believe in him.
  • September 29: Jahmene jets off to Dubai where he wows Nicole and her special guest Ne-Yo with his performance of David Guetta’s Titanium. He books his place in the live finals, along with James Arthur and Rylan Clarke.
  • October 6: Jahmene is told he was one of the strongest male singers the show has ever seen after his performance of Imagine.
  • October 10: Jahmene is gaining famous fans, with Yoko Ono tweeting: “I just saw and heard a recording of @JahmeneDouglas singing Imagine on X Factor UK – it was beautiful, Jahmene! I love you! Yoko.”
  • October 13: Jahmene wins the hearts of the judges and the public as he sails through the second live show of the competition singing a mash up of Amy Winehouse’s Tears Dry On Their Own alongside Motown classic Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.
  • October 20: Jahmene impresses the judges with soul number Say A Little Prayer, after revealing the brutal upbringing that inspired him to be a singer.
  • October 28: Jahmene sings Killing Me Softly for the Halloween live show.
  • November 5: Once again, he stuns judges with an impressive rendition of the Beyonce classic, Listen.
  • November 10: The singer overcomes a week of self-doubt to deliver a spine-tingling performance of Robbie Williams Angels, which he dedicates to his late brother, Daniel.
  • November 17: Jahmene sails through to the quarter-finals after singing Don’t Leave Me This Way.
  • November 19: Asda renames its Chicken Chow Mein ready meal ‘Chicken Jahmene’ in honour of the singer, a former shelf-stacker there.
  • November 24: Jahmene gives his support to Swindon’s domestic violence awareness campaign after booking his place in the semi-finals.
  • December 1: Jahmene makes it through to the final of the competition in Manchester.
  • December 5: Jahmene’s Homecoming, where he is greeted by 28,000 fans when he switches on the Christmas lights in Wharf Green. He also visits his church in Gorse Hill and former colleagues at Asda, with mentor Nicole Scherzinger at his side.
  • December 8: He puts in a killer performance at the X Factor finals in Manchester and the public vote him through to the grand final alongside fellow Scherzy Boy James Arthur.
