All roads in Royal Wootton Bassett have now reopened following the earlier accident.


It is believed a young boy, thought to be approximately six years old, has been hit by a car in Royal Bassett High Street. Injuries not thought to be serious at this stage. 


Traffic is currently unable to pass through Royal Wootton Bassett High Street at the moment due to an incident. Police and ambulance crews are currently in attendance. Drivers should find an alternative route. More information to follow.

Police officer Gary Tester, 43, of Weston-super-Mare has denied assualting a night porter at a Premier Inn in Blunsdon in January when appearing at magistrates' court this morning. Full story in tomorrow's paper.


As Britain officially hands over military command in Helmand Province, Afghanistan to a US general, the MoD has released a roll of honour of the 448 men and women who died during the conflict since 2001. It seems timely to remember Swindon's Corporal Michael Thacker, 27, of 1st Battalion, The Royal Welsh, who died in June 2012. Tributes to him can be found here.
