SHRIVENHAM village fete went off in style at the weekend with entertainment for all the family.

The day kicked off with music from Highworth Silver Band before a fancy dress parade, followed by a falconry display, Punch and Judy, dog display and magic show.

Children’s races, fun fair, pony rides, a car boot sale and a grand raffle completed the line up of events at this year’s fete at the Memorial Hall and Recreation Ground.

The closure of the A420 during this year’s fete was one of the main concerns of organisers leading up to the event, as traffic had to come through Shrivenham instead.

A spokesperson for the event said: “We had a fabulous day.

“There was so much packed into the afternoon and we had two new events – Hawkwalk Falconry and Gamegoer Gundogs. We also welcomed back Punch and Judy as well as the traditional items.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the Parish Council and the Viscountess Barrington’s Trust for the use of the Hall and the Recreation Ground. Also, many thanks to the members of the fete committee and to the helpers on the day.”
