A SCHOOLBOY with a very big heart is planning a fundraising day for three different charities.

Young Joshua Richter is only 13 but he is planning to hold a six hour sports challenge in aid of Children In Need, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Cancer Research and Prospect Hospice.

The Kingsdown School pupil from Penhill aims to take on the day-long marathon of badminton, football, rugby, basketball, running and dodge ball.

He said: “I wanted to do it because I raised money before and I wanted to try and raise some more.

“I just want to help people who need it. I did some fundraising before after my great auntie got diagnosed with cancer. It was horrible when we found out. I just wanted to do something to try and help.

“In total I’ve raised about £100 with my fundraisng. It’s amazing because I know I have helped someone.”

Joshua asked his friends to get involved and help organise the day and was pleased that they agreed to help.

“They all said yes at once,” he said.

“I just thought it would be good for them to have a good time and a challenge and try and raise some money for charity at the same time.

“I’ve never done anything like it before and six hours is quite a long time so I think it will be quite a challenge.”

Joshua, whose favourite sport is football, said; “I am quite sporty and I enjoy sport which is why I thought we could do this.

“It should be fun. I hope lots of people will come along.”

The event will take place on October 27 from 10am until 4pm.

Josh hopes that people will come along and support him and his friends on the day at Sevenfields.

He said: “I have sponsorship forms and I’ve been telling people on Facebook. I want to try and raise £50 and maybe even more than that.”

Josh’s mum, Lisa Davis, first found out that Josh would hold this event from Facebook.

The 34-year-old mum of three said: “I think it’s brilliant what he is doing. It’s just amazing that he wants to do something to try and help other people by raising money for charity.

“I’m totally behind him and support him with this and I’m just so proud of him.

“I think the event is going to be held quite close to Children In Need and he just wanted to do what he could to raise some money too.”

Earlier this year the youngster also raised money for Prospect Hospice in memory of his great grandmother Cynthia Davies, who died following an illness in November 2011.

He has also fundraised for the Great Ormund Street Hospital and Sport Relief.
