FATHER Christmas will have no trouble spotting Swindon on his sleigh on Wednesday night due to the number of houses decked out in lights.

Dozens of homes around the town, from Cricklade and Highworth, to Wroughton and Royal Wootton Bassett, have decorated the exteriors of their houses with lights, from garish neon displays of welcome to twinkling fairy lanterns along the window frames.

Some homes have even dangled lights from the eaves of the house.

Meanwhile, some families have threaded their trees in the garden with lights, and put up shining sculptures of reindeer and snowmen.

In Tweed Close, one family has lit up their home with shining snowflakes, Christmas trees ion the lawn and parachuting Father Christmas’s on the exterior wall.

In Marlborough Road, another homeowner has gone to the extent of building a glittery white frame of lights, almost reminiscent of snow fall.

And in Parks, passersby can admire the stars and angels lit up in the windows.

Allison Clarke, who lives in Fairfield in Cricklade, has been decorating her house with exterior lights for nearly 15 years.

Together she and her neighbour, Kim Poole, each put up 100s of lights and eight festive inflateables – including one more than 10 feet tall.

This is in addition to the hundreds of decorations inside the house, including a snow village with a Polar Express train, almost 100 teddy bears, ceiling decorations and musical Father Christmas decorations.
