BUSINESSES can pick up tips on how to hunt out a bargain at a breakfast meeting in Swindon next month.

TV antiques expert and Bargain Hunt regular, Thomas Plant, will be sharing stories about his television and his business career at an event held by BusinessWise on Friday, April 10.

Thomas is an onscreen regular on the Antiques Road Trip, Bargain Hunt and Flog It!, and combines his showbiz roles with his day job as a partner and auctioneer at Special Auction Services, in Newbury.

He will be the guest speaker at the weekly breakfast meeting hosted by the Swindon business referral group BusinessWise at the Jury’s Inn Hotel, in Fleming Way.

This event has been opened up to any business person interested in attending and Thomas said he was keen to talk on how he combines his passions - antiques and business - at the event.

"I’m delighted to be asked to talk to business people about my business life and how my television role has helped our company," said the expert, who first took part in Bargain Hunt in 2000, where he helps contestants pick out items which they hope they can sell on for a profit, as well as being the featured auctioneer during programmes.

"I know Swindon and North Wiltshire very well as my team often works with clients in the area, so it’s great to be asked to talk to local business people and to meet them face to face."

The event, which begins at 6.45am, is open to any business person in the Swindon area, though places are limited so interest must be registered in advance. The cost is £10 per person, to be paid on the day.
