CAMELS were in the streets of Swindon this week to bring people news of a show at the Wyvern Theatre.

The animals are part of the production of Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, which runs until this evening.

A pair of the animals were brought to the town by Joseph’s Amazing Camels, the only company in the UK specialising in camels, and were in Theatre Square between 5pm and 7.30pm on Wednesday for people to meet and have their photograph taken with them.

The shows in Swindon are part of a celebratory tour, marking 35 years since Joseph first took to the road.

“Celebrating 35 years since its first tour, Bill Kenwright’s production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s much-loved show has garnered sensational reviews since its inception,” said a Wyvern spokesman.

“The X Factor’s Lloyd Daniels (2009 series) will reprise his role as Joseph after enjoying a successful 2014 UK tour in the lead.

“Fellow X Factor alumni, Amelia Lily, will make her musical theatre debut as the narrator.

“Amelia, who was mentored by former Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland, finished third in ITV’s the talent show in 2011, the year Little Mix claimed the crown.

“Matt Lapinskas will don his Elvis outfit again as he joins the tour once more as the eccentric Pharaoh.”

Earlier this week, Joseph’s 11 brothers took to the pitch at the County Ground, donning colourful kit to show off their skills and pose for photos.

They sent a good luck message to the Swindon Town players ahead of their crucial play-off final at Wembley this weekend.
