MORE than 100 people have applied for the eight jobs on offer at a new Krispy Kreme store, due to be opened at the Swindon Designer Outlet.

Alex Pitts, operations manager of the new store, which will open on August 4, has been in and around Swindon looking for new staff at the doughnut haven.

He said there had been 110 applications to fill the eight to 10 jobs available in the sugary palace.

Alex said the firm would be hiring out a conference suite in the town on Friday (JUL 17) in order to interview those Swindonians who have applied.

There will also be a variety of drinks and milkshakes available at the eatery, which has an intriguing design in itself.

Based on the traditional boxes its doughnuts are sold in, Krispy Kreme plans to create a giant box design with a lifting lid which rises to provide customers access to the products.

The new store will be located within the Long Shop expansion of the outlet, which opened last autumn.

“We are very excited about this lovely spot in the outlet village,” said Alex.

“We are currently in the process of recruiting some fantastic local people. It is 10 to 12 jobs we have got.

“There is a manager in place and it’s a concept that we have recently opened up in Plymouth.

This will be the American doughnut giant’s first dedicated store in Swindon, but it has already gauged public interest with small displays in the town’s Tesco supermarkets.

Alex said the signs were encouraging for the future of the new restaurant and Swindon is ready to support a dedicated Krispy Kreme.

“It’s a nice mixture of knowing there’s interest and the popularity of the product in Tesco says something,” he said.

“At the same time there’s a fairly new market in the beautiful Outlet Village and they have been very nice so far.”
