A BEAUTY queen has vowed to raise £10,000 for charity with a series of events over the summer.

Hannah Golding, who is the current Face of the Globe of England and a former Miss Swindon, has pledged to raise the sum for the Rainbow Child Foundation, which helps underprivileged children around the world.

Planned events include a clothes swap fashion show, where models will be modelling outfits made from recycled materials as well as the public being able to swap their old clothes for new outfits, a charity beauty pageant, with all ages being able to enter, followed by a Winter Wonderland ball.

Hannah said she had seen the work of the Rainbow Child Foundation and wanted to help.

“I am very honoured to be representing England once again for the International finals of Face of the Globe, which are being held in Disneyland next year,” she said.

“I saw first hand what the Rainbow Child Foundation charity does and wanted to do something big to help raise vital funds to help children here in the UK as well as all over the world.

“I really wanted to hold my own pageant, which has a Disney theme, to show everyone that it isn’t the stereotype of Miss Congeniality but it’s a chance to gain confidence and do something worthwhile.

“With the help of local businesses Simply Beautiful by Emma, Little Gem’s Flowers and CMG Photography, the three big events were born.”

The clothes swap fashion show will be held on October 2 at Swindon Rugby Club, where shoppers will be able to buy from local business stalls as well as be treated to a show involving outfits made from recycled objects.

“I’ve made some crazy outfits before with newspapers, books, bin liners and England flags, even a dress made out of different Disney prints,” Hannah said.

“I want shoppers to be able to see what you can do with those items that you just don’t use anymore.”

The charity pageant, Miss Rainbow Star, will be held on November 7, the same day as the Winter Wonderland ball which will be in the evening.

The event is open to girls aged from three up and includes a Disney-themed round, as well as the traditional evening gown wear.

“We want to have local girls who have always wanted to model, or are interested in getting into pageants, or girls just looking to have fun,” Hannah said.

“It is a great confidence builder and everyone will get a prize.

“For me pageants have given me so much confidence and new friends and the chance to travel the world.”

The ball will come complete with a meal, entertainment and the chance to dress up.

“My sponsor’s raised a huge amount for Prospect Hospice with their Spring ball back in June and couldn’t wait to plan another one,” Hannah added.

“I’m very lucky they chose my charity to help raise the funds.

“Now we are looking for raffle prizes, stall holders for the fashion show and contestants for the charity pageant, I really want to hit that £10,000 mark and see the look on their little faces when they receive that cheque.”
