A CAT that survived being stabbed with a nine-inch kitchen knife has found a loving new home.

Long-haired black and white female Misty was found with the blade plunged through her shoulder in Spindle Tree Court, Pinehurst, last month.

Wiltshire Police, who are investigating the incident, have also been inadvertently involved in rehoming the animal, as the feisty feline captured the heart of police employee and cat lover Laura Bellis from Melksham.

Laura, 36, first saw Misty’s photo when working in the police control room and was determined to adopt her.

“We see some pretty horrible things in there but this touched a nerve. When I saw the photos I was horrified," she said.

Now, free from her bandages and stitches and minus a few of her nine lives, Misty is fighting fit.

She is now able to focus on settling into her new perfect life alongside feline friend, tuxedo shorthair Kitty.

“I was quite nervous when we got her home but it shows how strong and how resilient she is that she’s come this far and survived,” Laura said.

“She’s just settled in straight away. It’s like she’s finally found her home.

“It’s a quiet house with a nice garden and lots of nice places for her to sleep.

She’s slowly exploring and she’s enjoying the attention she’s getting, it’s as if she can finally relax.”

Emma Burns, from VetsNow, said the team were delighted Misty had been happily rehomed.

“The new owner was really pleased when we contacted her and her new family are such lovely people that we’re delighted for Misty,” she said.

“I have to admit I was a bit sad to see her go.

"I’d absolutely fallen in love with her, but we wanted to ensure Misty was far enough away from where she was found so that she wouldn’t try to return. Her new home is ideal for her.”
