A STRATTON pub is inviting musicians from across Swindon to come together for a night of music as a tribute to a much loved local guitarist who died last year.

The special jam night will take place next Thursday, February 18, from 8pm at The Bakers Arms on Beechcroft Road in memory of Gary Hollister who originally set up the jam sessions.

Landlady Kathy Kelly said: “Gary was an absolutely fabulous guitarist, one of the best in Swindon.

“About three years ago now he started a country and western jam session that still runs every other week at the pub.”

It is hoped that singers and bands from all over Swindon, particularly those with a connection to Gary, will head to The Bakers Arms to join the celebration.

Kathy added: “He played in a lot of bands over the years, loads of people knew him.

“We’re hoping people some of those who played with him will come along and join us on the night.”

A raffle is planned for during the evening, with any money raised going to Prospect Hospice in memory of Gary.

As well as paying tribute to their friend, it is also hoped that the night will introduce some new faces to the pub.

As well as regular live music, karaoke and other events, they have a kitchen serving a range of home cooked food.

Building on the popularity of their recent Wednesday lunch deal they now offer 2 courses for just £6.99 right through the week from Monday to Friday.
