ADAM Ficek, ex-drummer and songwriter with Babyshambles, and DJ for the famous Playboy Club, is heading back out on the road this year stopping off to Wiltshire’s Riffs Bar.

The musician will be touring this spring with a set that mixes his own new songs, classic Babyshambles tracks, and numbers from his solo project, Roses Kings Castles.

He will be playing at Riffs in Greatfield, near Hook on Friday, February 26 from 7pm.

Babyshambles was the band set up by Pete Doherty, following the demise of The Libertines, who coincidently also made a comeback last year.

Adam began playing with Babyshambles in 2005 and his own project, RKC, was a creative platform for his own musical ideas and a feeder for his own Babyshambles songs.

The songwriter released a number of tracks under the RKC banner, including his first single Sparkling Bootz, in 2008, the EP Apples and Engines in 2009, and two albums: Suburban Time Bomb and British Plastic.

His Babyshambles days took Adam all over the world, playing at glittering MTV Award ceremonies, Glastonbury and other summer festivals, Wembley stadium, as well as recording hit records such as Down In Albion, which shot into the top ten of the UK album charts, and Delivery, which reached number six in the UK Singles Chart after its first week on general sale.

Adam left in 2010, and says that he got to play in an alternative pop band, travelled the world, ate sweets and had commercial success.

Today the drummer, who is actually a multi-instrumentalist, is concentrating on his own project and is not afraid to combine both his areas of interest, the house music of electronica and his band music.

“I wanted that sonic power of the clubs and to incorporate ragged guitars,’’ he said.

Adam, who is no stranger to Wiltshire, having played in Marlborough and Cricklade, says that playing in a band is like being a pirate, travelling up and down the country, while being resident DJ at the Playboy Club is all about the colours and the energy of pre-recorded music. He says he likes to create a soundtrack for the evening. He will be supported at Riffs by Polar Front, who have had tracks featured on Vicky Pattison’s new advert, Sahara Heights and Josh Wolfsohn.

Tickets are £5 from www.wegottickets.com/event/342792.
