THERE are already so many wonderful ways to raise money for the appeal and now you can help by opening a Tribute Fund on the Brighter Futures website.

A Tribute Fund is an online page that allows people to celebrate and remember the life of a loved one by raising donations in their name.

It is free, easy to set up and can be used to include donations that have been made in the past.

Most people open one when they lose someone close and are planning a funeral, but they can also be opened to mark a birthday, a date of passing or an anniversary.

George Scarrott, owner of George Scarrott and Son’s Family Fun Fairs, recently opened a Tribute Fund in memory of his father, also called George, who died in March 2013, nine months after being diagnosed with Oesophagus cancer.

Speaking of the need for a radiotherapy unit in Swindon, George said: “It’s something we’re very passionate about and we want to help other people who have to make that same awful journey under the same circumstances.

“It’s something we’ve always wanted to do, especially after seeing what my father went through. It’s something we feel strongly about. It’s a very worthy cause and we’re happy to support it.”

George’s father, who was 63 when he passed, had to travel from his home in Royal Wootton Bassett to Oxford every day for treatment and George describes the journey as “extremely tough given the terrible circumstances”.

The Scarrotts have run their own fun fair since the late nineteenth century and the late George was a very popular figure in the town.

He married his sweetheart, Bridget, in 1984 and they had two sons, George and Ben, who are still ensuring the success of their father’s business.

From August 4 to August 7, the family is hosting a Brighter Futures Fun Weekend at Royal Wootton Bassett Showfield in memory of George.

There will be rides, games, stalls, refreshments, huge inflatables, face painting and much more. All are welcome and the funds raised will go to the Radiotherapy Appeal.
