A POPULAR hotel turned back time today in order to attract their staff of tomorrow.

DeVere at the Cotswold Water Park rolled up to Swindon’s Job Centre Plus to recruit for various hospitality staff.

Julie Marshall, the Princes Street’s centre team leader, said that the hotel was one of a number of different recruiters currently in the market for staff.

Brook Street recruitment agency are recruiting electrical assemblers, while Cross Street Cars are looking for self-employed taxi drivers and SSE are recruiting trainee gas meter readers.

Cordant Security are recruiting security officers and Angels Care at Home are on the look-out for domiciliary care staff. Innovate Cleaners are looking for contract cleaning services and Hayes Recruitment agency recruiting labourers. The Body Shop at Home is also seeking sales representatives, while 3aaa apprenticeship company recruiting digital marketing and tech support for end employers.

Julie said: “Swindon Thistle Hotel is now open for business but have been continuing to advertise vacancies for team members. The new Metro Bank is being built in the town centre – the bank is due to open by Christmas but recruitment has not yet commenced.

“Outlets are populating food hall The Crossing at the Brunel Centre, with McCTaffs and Eggelicious the latest to open.

“We do still have skills shortages in some areas. The social care sector continues to experience skills shortages. Wemyss Lodge care home held an Open Day August 12 to give interested applicants chance to meet their team while Angels Care at Home have been coming in to recruit in the Jobcentre to speak to candidates who want to know more about domiciliary care.

"Audley Care and the Order of St John’s Care Trust continue to advertise.

“We’ve seen continued recruitment in administration and retail, Swindon Borough Council, Sanctuary Housing seeking to fill admin related roles.

“Looking ahead, Argos have just started their recruitment campaign for Christmas staff and over the next few weeks we will see Marks & Spencer, Boots, Dunelm, Co-op, Poundland, Primark and more.

"In September, Jobcentreplus will be running the Bags of Jobs campaign, championing the wide range of jobs and careers possible in retail."

In a separate development, PGL Leisure are already advertising for instructors, catering staff, housekeeping staff at their chain of activity in 2018.
