A PRIMARY school pupil has his work displayed on a giant poster for all to see after winning a nation-wide competition.

Year 2 pupil Frank Nowak, who attends East Wichel Primary School, was on Tuesday handed a certificate for winning a Brakes road safety competition.

The idea was for pupils to submit ideas for a poster warning people about the importance of road safety.

Amazingly, Frank won and his poster is now on display outside the school.

He was also handed a certificate and £30 worth of Hobby Craft vouchers.

Teaching assistant Ann Mackay, who co-ordinated the competition, said: “In June, we launched a road safety poster competition for the charity, Brake.

“Frank got ‘highly commended’ out of 7,000 entries.

“Now the whole community will see it and read the message to help keep road traffic issues to the front of people’s minds.

“It’s very important for the children to learn about these things. Road safety is a very important part of their education. It also helps to remind adults of the importance of road safety, too.

“We are all very proud of him.”
