A 26-YEAR-OLD woman who went on a crime spree has been given a 28-week suspended prison sentence after appearing at Swindon Magistrates' Court and admitting a series of offences.

Sophie Sheppard, of Marney Road, Grange Park, entered a house in Shetland Close as a trespasser on May 30 and stole a tablet and two watches worth a total of £2,750. She also stole a Volkswagen Polo on September 27.

Sheppard was ordered to pay compensation of £175 for trespassing and £89.65 for the car theft.

She will be electronically tagged under curfew for four months.

She also pleaded guilty to five charges of fraud which she accrued by using a bank card to make contactless payments for goods five times on September 27, for which she was given no separate penalty.

Sheppard also admitted two charges of theft after stealing alcohol from Marks and Spencer on July 7, July 17, July 25 and July 26.

For the second theft she must pay £402 in compensation but she was given no separate penalty for the rest.

On September 27, Sheppard failed to stop her vehicle in Dorcan Way after being told to do so by police.

Later she was found to have been driving without a licence or insurance. She was disqualified from driving for six months.

She also denied stealing £890 from two people on February 12 and was bailed to appear at Chippenham Magistrates' Court on December 7.
