PAUL Carter, 26, of Ely Close, Toothill, has been sent to prison after breaking a restraining order.

Carter had previous convictions for similar offences, poor engagement with the Probation Services, and was already on a suspended sentence order.

So when he pleaded guilty to speaking to a woman at her address in Swindon on November 4, despite being prohibited from doing so, he was sent to prison for 13 weeks and ordered to pay £115 to victim services.

The 13 weeks will be served consecutively to the 26 weeks he was given in a suspended sentence order which was originally made on October 25 after he breached another restraining order twice, caused criminal damage and assaulted someone.

Carter also admitted damaging the glass in a window in a house in Swindon on the same day, but was given no separate penalty.

Officers who spotted a man driving his car whilst using his mobile phone later discovered he had no insurance for the vehicle either.

Joe Deyager, 28, of Pinehurst Road, appeared at Swindon Magistrates' Court on November 7 where he pleaded guilty to using the device while behind the wheel of his Mini Cooper in Holbrook Way on May 18.

He also pleaded guilty to driving with no insurance. Deyager was fined £125, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and court costs of £85. His licence was endorsed with eight penalty points.

A 35-year-old man who pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman has been given a restraining order and must pay £349.

Jason Farr from Longthorne Close in Toothill beat his victim on October 8. Farr was fined £184 and told to pay £50 in compensation, £85 in costs and £30 to victim services.

He also admitted damaging a door belonging to Swindon Borough Council on October 15, for which he was given no separate penalty.

A 47-year-old man who pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman has been given a community order.

Royston Morris, of no fixed abode, beat his victim in Swindon on September 16. Morris was ordered to pay £85 to victim services. His community order includes a six-month drug rehabilitation requirement and he must participate in a Building Better Relationships programme for 29 days.

He also pleaded guilty to being threatening or abusive to a victim on the same day, for which no separate penalty was given.

A 43-year-old sex offender from Swindon must pay £635 for failing to tell the court that he was staying at an unregistered address in which two children also lived.

Ricky Krong, of Colbourne Street, pleaded guilty to staying at the address between January 1 and June 6. Krong was fined £500 and ordered to pay £85 in costs plus £50 to victim services.

A magistrate has handed down a £1,000 fine to a driver caught speeding down the A303 near Cricklade in May.

Timothy Oliver, 54, of Tillington, West Sussex, appeared at Swindon Magistrates' Court on November 7 where he pleaded guilty to the offence. The court heard that Oliver had been driving his Audi RS3 along the dual carriageway, also known as Woodbine Hill, when the offence occurred. The speed limit on the road is 70mph.

In addition he was disqualified from driving for 14 days, ordered to pay court costs of £85 as well as a victim surcharge of £100.

A Romanian man who was caught speeding in a car she was not insured to drive will return to court later this month to be sentenced. Marian Dinita, 28, of Padstow Road, was driving his BMW 318 along Great Western Way on May 22 when he was caught driving over the 30mph limit. He was then found to have no insurance for the car he was driving.

Dinita pleaded guilty when he appeared at Swindon Magistrates' Court on November 7. His case was adjourned so that a Romanian interpreter could be present when he is sentenced on November 28.

A 55-year-old man from Swindon must pay £215 after pleading guilty to breaking his restraining order.

Steven Fowler, of Wavell Road, sent three text messages to a woman on September 26 whilst prohibited from doing so.

Fowler was fined £100 and ordered to pay £85 in costs plus £30 to victim services.

A trip to Swindon proved to be a costly experience for one driver.

Fumani Mukhari, 39, of Milbourne Way in Chippenham, was caught speeding along the 30mph section of Great Western Way in May. Despite initially pleading not guilty to the offence, Mukhari changed his plea to guilty when he appeared at Swindon Magistrates' Court on November 7.

He was fined £100 and ordered to pay costs of £85, a victim surcharge of £30. His licence was endorsed with three penalty points.

A violent 19-year-old man from Swindon must pay £175 after a smashing up a home and assaulting two people.

Kieran Ricks, of Linton Street, admitted damaging a woman’s glass coffee table, computer monitor and door on October 21.

He was given a community order with six months of treatment for alcohol dependency and also given a restraining order banning him from visiting the scene of his crime.

Ricks must also pay £40 in costs and £85 to victim services for the offence.

He also admitted assaulting a man, trying to violently break into a property, and assaulting a police officer on the same day and was fined £50.

Douglas Warren, 24, of Willow Lane, Kettering, must pay £208 after admitting criminal damage. He smashed a woman’s window on June 23 and was fined £93, ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 to victim services.
