A "bitterly cold" night is ahead for residents in Swindon tonight, the Met Office has warned.

A yellow weather warning is in place tomorrow, but forecasters have warned that tonight will be bitterly cold.

A Met Office spokesman said: "Snow showers will continue on and off this evening, with bitterly cold winds. Through the early hours and area of more prolonged drifting snow will move into the southwest, bringing significant accumulations and potential for disruption. The minimum temperature will be -3 °C.

"On Sunday, snow will fall through the morning, bringing further accumulations, especially over the moors but also to lower levels with potential for disruption. Snow will ease later from the east. Maximum Temperature 3 °C."
