TWO brothers who launched a road rage attack have escaped a prison sentence.

Nurul Hussain and Ajmal Hussain-Kabir were with two other men when they followed moped rider Aaron Ward and attacked him outside his girlfriend’s house.

Colin Meeke, prosecuting, told Swindon Crown Court that at about 7.15pm on April 4 Mr Ward was approaching Cheney Manor roundabout on his moped while Hussain, 23, and Hussain-Kabir, 20, were in a Honda Civic with two other men.

There were hand gestures between the driver and rider, the court was told.

The car then followed Mr Ward, who was on his way to see his girlfriend, and when he arrived he saw four people in the Honda Civic get out.

He was punched and hit with a foam rubber baseball bat. Mr Ward’s girlfriend and her family looked on as he was attacked and he suffered lumps and bruises.

The court heard Hussain admitted being the front seat passenger in the car which was being driven by his brother.

The men, of Bourne Road, Moredon, pleaded guilty to common assault.

Rob Ross, defending, said: “We all occasionally get worked up when driving motor vehicles. Most are used to people waving fists and making gestures, the intelligent thing to do is ignore it.”

Judge William Hart ordered each to do 150 hours of community service and pay £150 compensation and £125 costs.
