A SWINDON branch of an animal charity has launched its new website.
The Animals Asia Swindon Support group was previously based under the Animals Asia website, but at the end of February got its own site up and running.
Swindon support group founder Sarah Chilvers, from Peatmoor, said: “I hope that the website will help us to grow our group so we can help make a difference to the bears, cats and dogs in China and Vietnam.
“If anyone would like to get involved, has any ideas for fundraising, would like to publicise an event or even would like help with an event please feel free to contact me.”
The group offers films and presentations to schools or any other groups that are interested in the work of Animals Asia Foundation.
Animals Asia is a charity dedicated to restoring respect for animals in Asia through re-education.
It is most well known for its work with moon bears The bears are kept on bear farms, mainly in parts of China, and their bile is extracted from their abdomen through a catheter over many years – a process for medicinal purposes that often leads to a slow painful death.
In 2008, the Swindon group, one of 40 local groups set up around the country, invited Animals Asia founder Jill Robinson along to their first fundraising event to speak about her experiences, including rescuing moon bears.

Yeah! Let's turn a blind eye, pretend it's not happening, let the animals suffer a long cruel agonising death. Not as if I could afford £2 or so. Seriously, Where's the harm in highlighting a humane animal rescue site. I ran the Tough Guy course, three years in a row, to help the Tettenhall animal sanctuary. If you don't want to donate, then don't. I wouldn't be very accomodating if they "cold called" at my door, but advertising a website, and showing film presentations of what goes on, what's wrong with that? People can make their own minds up wether to donate or not.

Billy Jo - i dare you to look at some of the video's or more grusome pictures that show these animals plight! Have you ever seen a dog tied up and left for hours then slowly and I mean slowly they are tortured and killed for a rich mans dinner. Or a bear that lives its entired life drugged up in a cage riddeled with disease not ever seeing daylight. Go on see how you feel then!!!

With the seriously under funded well deserving causes we have in this country and they are trying to persuade us to part with our hard earned to help some possibly ill treated animals in a far off country?
For heavens sake please feel free to go and rattle your tin well out of my earshot.
