Pupils give politicians a grilling at 'Question Time'

PUPILS from St Joseph’s Catholic College put politicians and business leaders under the spotlight with a Question Time session.

The students, who are all studying for AS level, fired a variety of questions at the panel which included South Swindon MP, Anne Snelgrove; Robert Buckland, the Conservative’s prospective parliamentary candidate for South Swindon; Stan Pajak, leader of the Liberal Democrat group at Swindon Council; former St Joseph’s pupil, Zeno Calaco, now vice-president of publisher and developer relations with Sony Computer Entertainment Europe; paralympic equestrian gold medallist, Ann Dunham, and Dave King, editor of the Swindon Advertiser.

The 90-minute session included questions on unemployment benefits, the recession, standards in schools, the war in Afghanistan, the future of the Falkland Islands and the protection of vulnerable children by social services.

This just shows how arrogant and scared our politcal and business leaders are.
They cant lie to us the adult voters and taxpayers anymore, so they go and spread their lies/propaganda into the weak minds of our children instead.
SHAME ON YOU !!!!!
I would welcome such a debate especially before local and general elections, but so far all I got were few uggly campain leaflets through the door. PATHETIC DEMOCRACY

I note Swindon democracy is no better than the National kind with UKIP and other parties not being invited.

Not the first time colleges and schools have done this. Surprised the Greens weren't there they normally get an invite despite not even featuring in the local political scene.

It was worse at my old school when representatives of the Labour party turned up to persuade us to vote for them due to the YTS system being slave labour - our parents were furious that the other parties didn't have the opportunity to have their say.

The greens do feature locally. Also it's a shame that the issues the greens were warning us about years ago are only now being addressed by the main parties.

It's all the greens that's causing the methane that's causing global warming :-)

I heard something similar about BNP and UKIP, takes time to filter down tothe main parties, the gutter politics I call them.

I hope you weren't referring to UKIP, politicrat:):):)

Talking of methane it seems the hot air from the 'we are all doomed' AGW brigade it seems in a well hidden news article, the Government have been ordered by the Advertising Standards Authority to stop using their fairy story adverts (in more ways than one), as they have no scientific basis in fact.

Also following the failure of the Copenhagen, one would expect the Climate Change lobby to keep their heads down, but know they are to meet in Bonn to try and 'rig' a deal before the next official summit next year.
