I’ve lost more than I weigh now, says happy mum

A WOMAN has lost more than her current body weight to be crowned a slimming champion.

Rebecca Fyfe was voted as Bristol’s district winner of Slimming World’s Woman of the Year competition on Sunday having lost nearly 10 stone.

Rebecca, from Bradley Road, Upper Stratton, joined Slimming World classes at St John’s Church, Haydon Wick, in May 2008 when she was 12 weeks pregnant with her seventh child and was suffering from dangerously high blood pressure.

Since then she has since lost 9st 12.5lbs and her husband, Robert, has also lost in the region of seven stone.

Together they were runners-up in the finals of Slimming World’s Couple of the Year competition earlier this year.

To lose weight Rebecca, who is originally from California, used a cross trainer for an hour a day, five days a week, and also took her border collie for long walks, as well as attending classes held by consultant Sharon Painter.

She will now represent the district, along with Ms Painter, at Slimming World’s national semi-finals in Derbyshire, on Sunday, October 10. She will be competing for one of 10 places in the finals which are being held in Birmingham on November 13, where the winner will be announced at the Slimming World Woman of the Year Ball which is being compared this year by Justin Lee Collins.

The prize for the winner is an all inclusive seven-night spa break in Cancun, Mexico.

Rebecca said: “It’s such a huge amount of weight to lose – I lost more than what I weigh now.

“I absolutely recommend Slimming world I have tried lots of ways but the smaller targets made it so much easier.

“I wish everyone who is really overweight can get out there and do something about it.

“If I can do it anyone can. My family love the change – they are really proud and are constantly telling me that.”

Also representing Swindon at the district finals were Carly Green, having lost 3st 10lbs in 16 weeks from Sharon Painter’s morning group and Laura Fisher who has lost 4st 1.5lb for her wedding earlier this year, from Ms Painter’s other Haydon Wick group.

Slimming World is helping 300,000 people, men, women and young adults, every week lose weight with 21 women competing at the regional finals having lost 110 stone between them. There will be about 50 women representing 35 districts at Alfreton, Derby.

Where do you get off making assumptions about someone you know nothing about....@rsehole!

mr-m is just looking for a reaction, a wind-up merchant who probably thinks they're being clever. In reality they're just a mug, and my assumption would be that they are single and/or deluded!

If the wife lost 9st and the husband 7st, how much weight did the dog loose with all those long walks? I presume the dog was overweight, I don't recall ever having seen a fat person walking a slim dog.

the real challenge will be to keep it off as sadly most dont. At least they have tried so we should give them that. there is no substitue for just eating less and excercising more if you want to get and stay slim, there is no majic wand. Good luck to them i say.

Mr-M can rest assured that I am not and have never been on benefits. :)

Terence - We didn't have the dog until after we started making changes in our lives. He's only 2 years old. :)

house on the hill - I will ever be putting this weight back on. Slimming World makes it easy and it has been a way of life for me now for 2 years. I've been at my target weight for almost 8 months now.

and thanks for all those with nice things to say. :)

You can read more about me on my blog http://www.skinnydre

Why bother commenting? Why such bitter, jealous words? Such a shallow, judgemental person sitting in your ivory tower, surrounding yourself with perfection!

I agree with Boobear you are an empty person.

Well done Rebecca all the best!

What a hypocrite, remember this post?

"years of eating rubbish, and doing nothing about it, sat there like a couch potato, living on benifits, with 7 kids to look after, im surprised she was able to get so large"

Big difference to your last post!

Perhaps you should refrain from making nasty comments, your making yourself look stupid.

Of course Slimming World are not the only ones who benefit. The people losing the weight and their families do too.

im not fooling no-one, some people loose so much weight they look ill, some look good, but not many, i wouldnt say i love myself in the mirror now would i , or being stupid i proberly would!!!. sounds to me the only thing that benifits is the dog,

There's no short term in the benefits of going from being morbidly obese to being in a healthy BMI.

My health problems have all disappeared. I have more energy than I have had in many years. And, due to all of the exercise I have been doing (which includes some weight training), I don't have all of the loose skin that I might otherwise have had from losing so much weight.

The cost of going to Slimming World is a small one compared with the benefits it has brought me. This is a change for life, so there's nothing temporary about it. And I have made some wonderful friends at the meetings.

What is spending less than £5 a week (which I no longer spend since I am at target and go for free now) compared to the cost of an early death (which is where I was heading before I lost all of the weight)?

I do not intend to look ill from losing too much weight. I am at my goal weight and have been for a while. I like the way I look now, and I am a healthy weight. I have no intentions of losing more.

And for anyone reading this who has a lot of weight to lose, I hope you realise that it is absolutely possible to do!

Mr M... When you have correct grammar, spelling and English then you can start commenting on how people are until then get yourself a dictionary and a life.

If there is a wind-up merchant on this thread let's please ignore(as you would to attention-seeking children).
They/he will soon get tired of being ignored>
