CHILDREN have been creating romance this half term at Lydiard Park after taking part in a Valentine’s craft day.
On Tuesday, families headed to the local beauty spot to take part in a drop-in craft session where children got hands on to make and decorate their own love bug to give as a present to their loved ones or to hang up at home.
Kirsty Nichol, education officer at Lydiard Park, said: “About 60 people came along and the children enjoyed making a mess.
“We have a lot of activities throughout half term and, because we are both inside and outside, families can come along whatever the weather is doing.
“Lydiard is a romantic location but I think the children were just having fun getting messy.”
Another craft event is being held today, where the theme will be the Chinese New Year of the Dragon, allowing children to get creative by using paper-folding skills to make their own origami dragon puppet.
The cost of each session is £3 per child and all materials are provided. Booking is not necessary, but anyone interested should meet at the Coach House by the house and walled garden between 12pm and 3pm. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Emma Valentine, events and marketing officer for Lydiard Park, said: “These fun, family-friendly activities are part of a programme of events at Lydiard Park to inspire curiosity and learning in children and the adults accompanying them.
“Half-term holidays are an important time for families to do things together and, with a fantastic play area, beautiful grounds for a walk or bike ride, Lydiard Park offers a great day out for everyone.”
