TWINS may be known to run in families, but Pinehurst Netball Club have found they also run in teams after four sets were born in just one year.

Goalkeeper Eleanor Williams, goalkeeper and goal defence Charlotte Sunderland, and centre Hayley Reeve, have all become mothers to twins in the past 12 months.

The first set of twins in the team came after umpire Joan White became grandmother to Morgan and Honor a year ago.

Joan, of Greenmeadow, who is a grandmother of six, said: “It is such an achievement in one club to have so many twins, we have never known it.

“To have four sets of twins in one year was just amazing. We were all thrilled.”

Joan’s grandchildren were born to her daughter-in-law, Kelly White, 30, of Haydon End.

The second twins came when 29-year-old Hayley, of Oakhurst, had Rio and Mitchell 10 months ago.

“I didn’t sleep the night I found out I was having twins but it is lovely, I wouldn’t change it,” she said.

“We all meet up sometimes.

“It’s nice to know you have got that support and somebody else knows what you are going through.”

Eleanor, 28, of Haydon End, became the third in the group to have twins 18 weeks ago when she had Rosie and Zoë seven weeks early.

“It is really good we are all in the same boat.

“Hayley was ahead of Charlotte and I so she could calm us down a bit. We asked her all the questions,” she said.

“Charlotte and I found out we were pregnant around the same time.

“One of us said ‘I’m having twins’ and the other one said ‘so am I’.”

Charlotte, 33, of Old Walcot, had Jacob and Alfie just 15 weeks ago and had waited five years to become a mum.

“These were IVF twins, I was absolutely thrilled when I found out,” she said.

“We knew it was a possibility but it was still a bit of a shock.

“I told Hayley I was having twins first and she was really excited.

“It was nice to know there was someone there who would be about just ahead of me.”

Pinehurst Netball Club president, Doreen Willcocks MBE, started the club with Jean Neville 67 years ago.

“It is wonderful to have so many twins,” she said.

“We are hoping to train the girls up when they are old enough and the boys can play until they are 11.”

Pinehurst Netball Club practise at Swindon Academy and have 12 members in their squad.

Eleanor and Hayley have started playing again and Charlotte will join them in August.
