Coleview children will soon have a new place to run around after plans were agreed for a state-of-the-art play park.
Stratton St Margaret Parish Council has given full backing to the play area after two months of public consultation.
It will serve the recently constructed housing estate on the former St Joseph’s School site, in Oakley Park.
The cost of the park is being met from the Section 106 agreement money provided by the developer.
A series of public consultations, including one with Colebrook Junior School, fed into the final design. The council also set up a community panel to interview the three prospective companies and the recommendation from that community panel, which was made up of local residents and members of the parish council, were put forward to the parish council to award the contract to the chosen contractor, Miracle Design and Play Ltd.
The park includes a range of activities for all ages, including a spider web climbing frame, a dragon and a surf board.
More improvements across the parish are taking place as the Council announces further investment to improve six existing play areas.
A total of £33,500 has been allocated to improve the Melford Walk, Sywell Road, Greenbridge Road, Brooks Clos0e, Grange Drive and Stephens Road play areas.
Paul Russell, clerk to the parish council, said “These improvements will have a positive impact on the quality of our open spaces in the parish and the quality of life for children and residents.”
